Ernest Adade, a member of the Communications team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has articulated his dissatisfaction regarding the tenure of the former Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akufo Dampare.
Speaking on Peace FM’s morning show 'Kokrokoo', Adade recalled Dampare’s initial rise to prominence, noting how he was widely praised and even became a household name. However, Adade contended that things took a turn for the worse, particularly when the police appeared to be inactive during the elections.
"In the beginning, everyone praised Dampare to the extent that his name became a lexicon; so what happened?" Adade asked. He further criticized the former IGP's handling of the situation, stating, "Things got worse when the police went to sleep during the elections."
Adade also questioned Dampare's belief that he should be maintained in his position, despite the change in political leadership. "What surprised me was how he thought he would be maintained. This means he sees himself as an NDC member and believes he deserves to be maintained," Adade asserted. "Meanwhile, the one who appointed you is gone. He believed he had the right to be maintained; that's my strong conviction... I am not his fan anyway because he didn't help the country."
